CIFAL BILBAO is an International Training Centre for Local Authorities (CIFAL) specialized in Information Society, created in 2003 by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Basque Country to train Local Authorities in this matter.
The main action lines of CIFAL Bilbao are:
- To identify potential cooperation projects that could have a high impact in the development of the Information Society and that could be extrapolated to a wide range of regions.
- To design and disseminate a reference model based on the best practices of Local Authorities that can be used as a guide in the self-assessment and in the design of local strategies in the field of Information Society (Digital Local Agenda).
- To develop capacity building activities that can contribute to the awareness and training of the local responsible of the implementation of the Information Society.
